It applies when you visit www.friendsonsunset.com (the “Site”), shop at our store at 3140 W Sunset Blvd, use our car wash at 3128 W Sunset Blvd, sign up for our emails or text messages, or otherwise interact with us (together, the “Services”). “You” means anyone whose personal information we collect, including customers, website visitors, and subscribers.
By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Services.

- Email and text engagement: whether you open our emails or click links in our emails and texts.
- Approximate location: general location (such as city) derived from your IP address.
- Security footage: our store and car wash premises use video cameras for safety and security.
Information we receive from others
- Affiliates: companies under common ownership with us, including Dead Atlantic LLC and Godspeed Bagel Co LLC. For example, if you respond to an affiliate’s promotion about & friends, we may learn that you came to us from that promotion.
- Service providers: payment processors, email and text message platforms, and analytics providers that collect information on our behalf.
- Advertising and social media partners: information about your interactions with our ads and social media pages.
How We Use Personal Information
- Providing the Services: processing purchases and payments, providing car wash services, handling returns, and responding to your requests.
- Marketing and promotions: sending you emails and, if you opt in, text messages about our products, services, events, and offers; administering sign-up offers and other promotions; and showing you ads for & friends on other websites and platforms.
- Understanding and improving the Services: measuring how people use the Site, which campaigns bring visitors to us, and how our emails and offers perform.
- Security and safety: protecting our customers, employees, and premises, and detecting and preventing fraud, theft, and misuse of the Services.
- Legal compliance: meeting our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, enforcing our terms, and defending our rights and the rights of others.
Email and Text Message Marketing
Email. If you sign up for our emails, we will send you news, offers, and updates from & friends. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, we may still send you non-promotional messages, such as receipts or responses to your requests.
Marketing text messages. If you opt in, you agree to receive recurring automated marketing text messages from & friends at the number you provide. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time, or HELP for help.
Mobile information is not shared. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or text message opt-in data and consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. This does not include service providers that help us deliver our own messages.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We and our partners use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies on the Site and in our emails. They help us remember your preferences, display sign-up forms, understand how visitors use the Site, measure which campaigns bring visitors to us, and show you relevant ads on other sites.
Our email platform (Klaviyo) uses these technologies to recognize visitors who arrive from our emails and to track sign-ups. Advertising partners may use them to show you & friends ads elsewhere.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the Site may not work properly. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for that browser and device. Because there is no common standard for “Do Not Track” signals, we do not respond to them.
How We Disclose Personal Information
We do not sell personal information for money. We disclose it only in the following situations:
- Service providers: companies that work on our behalf, such as website hosting, email and text message platforms (for example, Klaviyo), payment processing, point-of-sale tools, analytics, and IT support. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Affiliates: companies under common ownership with us, including Dead Atlantic LLC and Godspeed Bagel Co LLC. We may share information with them to operate our businesses and to tell you about their products, services, and offers, including joint promotions. You can opt out of affiliate marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link. Mobile numbers and text message consent are never shared for this purpose.
- Advertising partners: through cookies and pixels, as described above, so that we can show and measure ads for & friends.
- At your direction or with your consent: for example, when you ask us to share information with someone else.
- Legal and safety reasons: to comply with the law, respond to subpoenas or other legal process, enforce our terms, and protect the rights, property, and safety of & friends, our customers, and others. This includes sharing security footage with law enforcement or insurers when there is an incident.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, or bankruptcy.
California Privacy Disclosures
The table below summarizes the categories of personal information we collect, who we disclose them to for business purposes, and whether we “sell” or “share” them as those terms are defined under California law.
| Category | Examples | Disclosed to | Sold or shared? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email, phone number, mailing address, IP address, license plate | Service providers, affiliates, advertising partners | Shared with advertising partners |
| Commercial information | Purchases, services used, offers redeemed | Service providers, affiliates | No |
| Internet or network activity | Pages viewed, clicks, email opens, campaign information | Service providers, advertising partners | Shared with advertising partners |
| Approximate location | City or region from IP address | Service providers | No |
| Audio and visual information | Security camera footage | Law enforcement or insurers when needed | No |
We collect this information from the sources described in “Personal Information We Collect.” We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Opting out of sale or sharing. Our “sharing” happens through advertising cookies and pixels. You can opt out through the “Your Privacy Choices” link at the bottom of the Site, by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, or by contacting us.
Shine the Light. California residents may ask once per year for information about the personal information we disclosed to third parties, including affiliates, for their direct marketing purposes in the prior calendar year. To make a request, email us with “Shine the Light Request” in the subject line.
Notice of Financial Incentive
We sometimes offer incentives, such as a discount at our car wash or store, when you sign up for our emails or text messages. In exchange, you provide identifiers such as your name, email address, or phone number, which we use for marketing as described in this Privacy Policy.
The terms of each offer are shown where you sign up. Joining is voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing or replying STOP. Offers you have not yet redeemed may no longer be available after you withdraw.
We estimate that the value of your personal information to us is roughly equal to the value of the incentive we offer. This estimate is based on the cost of providing the incentive and the revenue we expect from marketing to subscribers.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights. They are not absolute, and in some cases we may decline a request as the law allows.
- Know and access: ask what personal information we hold about you and how we use and disclose it.
- Delete: ask us to delete personal information we hold about you.
- Correct: ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Portability: receive a copy of your personal information in a usable format.
- Opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising: direct us not to sell or share your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
- Withdraw consent: where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time.
- Non-discrimination: we will not treat you differently for exercising these rights, except that some offers depend on being subscribed, as described in the Notice of Financial Incentive.
How to make a request. Email us at info@friendsonsunset.com. We may ask for information such as your email address or phone number to verify your identity. We will respond within the time the law requires, generally 45 days.
Authorized agents. You may have someone else make a request for you. We will ask for proof that you authorized them, and we may need to verify your identity directly with you.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision.
Other Important Information
Children. The Site and our marketing are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security. We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, but no system is completely secure. Please do not send sensitive information to us through unsecured channels.
Retention. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described here:
- Marketing subscriptions: until you unsubscribe. We keep a record of your opt-out so we can honor it.
- Purchase and payment records: as long as needed for tax and accounting purposes, generally up to 7 years.
- Security footage: up to 30 days, unless needed to investigate an incident.
Third-party websites. The Site may link to websites we do not control, including those of our affiliates. Their privacy policies govern how they handle your information.
Where information is processed. We are based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed here.
Changes to this policy. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on the Site and update the “Last updated” date above.
